Getting to Pushkar
Pushkar has no airport of its own — the nearest is Kishangarh Airport (~25 km) with limited flights, though most travelers instead fly into Jaipur (~150 km, roughly a 2.5-3 hour drive) or arrive by train via Ajmer, Pushkar's nearest railway station just 11 km away. Pushkar is almost always visited as a short stop on a wider Rajasthan circuit rather than a standalone destination.
When to Visit Pushkar
October to March is the most comfortable season for temple visits and walking the ghats. If your dates are flexible, the Pushkar Camel Fair — held every October or November — is worth planning around specifically: it's one of Rajasthan's most famous cultural events, with folk performances, camel trading and hot air balloon rides, though it also brings the town's biggest crowds and highest hotel prices of the year.
Top Attractions in Pushkar
Brahma Temple→ Read more
One of the very few temples in the world dedicated to Lord Brahma. The current 14th-century structure has marble flooring, silver coins embedded underfoot and a distinctive red spire, drawing thousands of pilgrims daily.
Pushkar Lake→ Read more
Considered one of India's holiest lakes, ringed by 52 bathing ghats and hundreds of temples. According to Hindu mythology, the lake formed when Brahma dropped a lotus flower to earth; pilgrims still take a holy dip here believing it washes away sins.

Set atop Ratnagiri Hill and reached by around 970 steps or a ropeway, this temple to Goddess Savitri rewards the climb with panoramic views over Pushkar Lake, the desert and surrounding hills.

Pushkar Camel Fair Ground→ Read more

Varaha Temple→ Read more
Among Pushkar's oldest temples, originally built in the 12th century and dedicated to Lord Vishnu's Varaha incarnation. Its intricate stone carving draws pilgrims and history enthusiasts alike, with a much quieter atmosphere than the Brahma Temple.
What Makes Pushkar Different
Pushkar is one of the only places in the world with a temple dedicated to Brahma the creator — despite being one of the three principal Hindu deities, Brahma has very few dedicated temples anywhere, which makes this a genuinely rare pilgrimage site, not just another Rajasthan stop.
The town's spiritual character and small scale make it a natural pause between the bigger, busier stops on a Rajasthan circuit — most visitors experience it as a calm, walkable half-day or overnight rather than a full multi-day destination in its own right.
Every itinerary here is built around comfort, meaningful access and pacing that allows each setting to breathe, rather than rushing between checklist stops.
